Since the end of the second wizarding war, Hogwarts has been reconstructed to its former glory. New reinforcements and measures have since then been added to the school's ground and curriculum in the hopes to avoid an incident like the past where as the students had been forced to defend themselves.

Hogwarts

Hogwarts can only be accessed through Platform 9 3/4 at London's King's Cross Station at 11am of the assigned date via the Hogswart Express. Loved ones are welcome to wait on the platform to see off the train.

Hogwarts's education includes 7 years at the school. First years are commonly twelve years old when they first begin and around eighteen years old when they graduate.

O.W.L are a set of exams that are taken during fifth year to determine the career of the student. It also determines which N.E.W.T classes they will be able to take starting sixth year that will go towards the requirements of the job they have in mind.

Individuals who are not actively in the magical world ( muggleborns ) will be visited by one of the professors and escorted to Diagon Alley to purchase their supplies. Their guardians are welcomed to accompany them during the journey as well. Scholarships are offered to orphans and refugees seeking education at Hogwarts.

LIMITATIONS:
  • If a student does not own an owl for post, they are able to use one of the school's owls.
  • Contrary to old limitations, students are allowed to bring in other small animals as their pets as long as the animal is small enough to be carried in crowds. They must also not be poisonous or be of any true danger to the students. Unique magical creatures ( such as gryffins ) are not allowed.
  • Students are not allowed to leave the school at any time as well as have visitors from outside. Exceptions maybe made in dire circumstances.
  • Students may receive their Hogwarts Letter before their eleventh birthday. Canonly, Harry Potter got a letter before his birthday, but was unable to open it until his birthday.

MUGGLE TECHNOLOGY

As this group takes place in the future, magical batteries have been produced to use in small handheld items. It is possible to use small handheld gaming consoles, but laptops and iPads/tablets do not work. If these devices are used in the vicinity where a lot of magic is cast (classrooms, dueling etc) then they still tend to glitch. There is also no internet access.

Hoot devices were made by wizards and witches and are therefore magical devices made to operate when muggle made devices can not.

Small muggle devices that are accepted into Hogwarts include small handheld game consoles and such. Laptops/cellphones are not allowed with the exception of a Hoot device.

Time TUrner

In this group we will be avoiding the use of time traveling devices due to complications it can cause in an rp and group setting. No students will be allowed to have one.

HOUSES

The most recognizable characteristic of Hogwarts is the division of four houses within the school. All first years are sorted immediately upon arriving to the school and will remain in their assigned house until they graduate. Students will live, befriend and learn to work as a family within their house. Although houses are split, it is encourage for students to make relationships with other houses.

"Gryffindor is well known for bravery, daring, nerve, and chivalry. The house colours are deep red and gold, and the house is symbolized by a lion. The entrance to the common room is on the seventh floor hidden behind a portrait of the Fat Lady. In order to get into the common room, Gryffindor students must say the correct password."

"Hufflepuff is well known for loyalty, hard working, dedication, honesty, and tolerance. The house is symbolized by a badger, and the house colours are yellow and black. Its common room is near the kitchens. To get into the common room, rather than giving a password you must tap a fake barrel in the rhythm "Helga Hufflepuff." It is the only common room to have a way to keep students from other houses out (by dumping vinegar on them)."

"Ravenclaw values wit, creativity, and wisdom. The house is symbolized by an eagle and the house colours are blue and bronze. The Ravenclaw common room is located in a high tower, and the interior is decorated with blue and bronze. To enter, rather than give a password, one must answer a riddle from an eagle door knocker, such as "Where do vanished objects go?" or "Which came first, the Phoenix or the flame?""

"Slytherin values ambition, cleverness, cunning, resourcefulness, and pure blood heritage. The house is symbolized by a serpent, and the house colours are green and silver. Its common room is located in the dungeons, underneath the Black Lake, and hidden behind a stone wall. Many people believe students sorted into this house often get involved in the Dark Arts." (( ** Please note that Slytherin is not a pure blood supremacy house any longer.

Dorms inside the houses are split up by year and gender, they are not co-ed rooms.
Although tables in the Great Hall are split up by houses, students are allowed to mingle at the tables of other houses. It is only during ceremonies that students are required to sit at their houses's assigned table.

Transfers

( more info about muggle-magical status per country located in setting journal)

Although Britain had yet to enter into a war or truce between the two communities, other countries were not as lucky. Some countries, devastated by the war that broke out between the two worlds, have begun to seek shelter in other wizarding communities. Hogwarts has become a place of shelter for students to seek an education away from the violence in their home countries.

If your character is transferring from another school, please note that this is an unlikely case UNLESS the area they were living in was in immediate danger and the entire family had decided to move to Britian.

Please remember that magical schools are boarding schools and so even though the family may move, a child can still continue to remain going to the same school to finish their education.

School TRANSFERS

Please remember that magical schools are boarding schools and so even though the family may move, a child can still continue to remain going to the same school to finish their education. It is rare for a student to be pulled out during the school year, its more likely that the family would decide to move within the safety borders of the school to be closer to their child.

Student Activities

Students are constantly encouraged to become involved with participating in school programs. New additions have also been added to the school in order to promote the awareness of the outside issues and prepare the students for the worst. Or in some cases, to still give them a way to escape these fears.

  • Hogsmeade Weekends. Always the first weekend of every month. Third years and below are asked to travel in pairs or groups for safety precautions.

  • Quidditch. Students will be able to tryout for their house's family team.

  • Dueling Tournaments. Students of all years will be able to participate in dueling tournaments to test their skills.

  • Various Tournaments. Other tournaments, including potions, will be offered.

DORMS

Genders are separated ( for transgender, yes they are separated based on their identifying gender ) by year also.

For example, all 3rd year Slytherins will share a one room dorm with one another. The room will enlarge depending on how many students are placed inside.

All dorms share the house common room.
